International Women's Day 2021

International Women's Day 2021

Happy International Women’s Day!

We stand strong and support Women all across the globe. Did you know that women have a higher risk of being susceptible to heart disease, breast cancer, autoimmune diseases, depression and anxiety? Well, all of that makes us feel a little more anxious. Here’s what you can do about it according to The International Women's Day Community.

Manage stress - take time out for yourself so that you can keep your cup full. Try out mediation, a walk outside in the fresh air, a bubble bath, a trip to the beauty salon, a hot yoga session. Whatever you find works for you - do it!

Keep informed – ask your Doctor or a health professional signs and symptoms to look out for that occur only in women…do not be afraid to ask. Women are all too quick to ignore the signs their bodies are telling them because we are so busy helping everyone else out around us. Take the time to listen to your body and never be afraid to ask your GP - if you are afraid then they aren't the right GP for you. You don't have to do this alone, gather a team of professionals to help take care of you.

Be future-focused – make changes now in your lifestyle that could affect your health in the future, become a better you. We know how busy and stressful life can get for women and maybe it is time you really sat and looked at your coping strategies. Is your lifestyle now going to affect your health in the future? Are you doing your very best at treating your body like a temple? It might not seem like a big deal now but future you will be thanking you for taking the time to care.

Sleep better – sleep is so important for your overall health, get a sleep mask and a meditation app that suits you. Stop pushing your body to its limits. We are always staying up far too late because it really is the only time we get just to ourselves BUT we are missing out on the very thing that is going to give us the energy we need to get through the next day - SLEEP. Have a herbal tea an hour before bed, listen to meditation, read a book and most importantly close your eyes - drift off and let the day go. We promise it will make a massive difference to your week.

Stay positive – be healthy and set goals but make them realistic. Don’t set yourself up to fail, set small achievable goals and remember to love yourself just the way you are…what you see in the mirror is a reflection of your day not of you as a whole. It is far easier to point out our flaws than to list the things that we excel in. Give it a go though - every day list out 3 things that you did a great job at. If we stop giving our negative psyche fuel then it will die out. Remember how strong you are and how far you have come.

Don’t forget encouragement, support and community. We women have to lift each other up, let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.

xoxo
